I've now released Vocality on the Google Play Store:

Okay. This is cool.
I'm wondering how long it'll be before somebody does a Daft Punk cover of Harder Better Faster Stronger!
Google Play! | Facebook | YouTube!
is that an Aphex twin ref I see btw, Bojeroo?
See; http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/comment/6955#comment-6955 for more information Bipidribait.
Yep, my fav Aphex track of all time! :o)
i used your app in my song Say Nothing Girl....it worked pretty well.
Thanks Dan. I'm a bit behind on listening to people's tracks so need to catch up!
Oh ok! I get it now, where you got the vocals from.... nice work there..... see you already have support for your just released app...LOL
Congrats on the release
Thanks Jason. When Rej and I get the integration going with Caustic, it will become a more useful tool.
Danjdob, are you saying all the vocals in "Say Nothing Girl" were made with this tool!?
oh that would be delightful...but no, just the two spoken word samples, "the power is in the music, the music is in the soul" i think they sound pretty good, though a little noisy.
They sound REALLY good, whatever noise the was blends into the track anyway. What speech engine and voice did you use to make them? (I'm just putting together a blog post for Vocality and I'd like to show your track as an example)
i used the beta which has expired, unfortunately....i would love to get the full app but i cant get it on amazon yet.....in the settings the speech engine used is IVONA TTS.
There, done. You're both on the front page.
Good luck with the release Bojeroo, we can talk about Caustic-Vocality integration in a few weeks once the dust settles on your end and I'm finished with a couple of things over here.
cool my track is on the front page. i hope boojero releases his app on amazon...that would be awsome.
That's awesome, and congrats Bojeroo for your release.... I can forsee some good use for many projects for many people!
I'm working on a track with some TTS (I used FL for that) on Caustic Windows. Just dowloading your app and I will continue on tablet, to keep things caustic friendly.
Unfortunately, I can't download Ivona TTS from my country . I will try with the SVOX trial version ..
It's weird that the Ivona engine is not available anymore on Kindle as it looks like Amazon bought them(header on their webpage says "Ivona, an Amazon company".
Strange that they would extend the beta on Google/Android but not on the Amazon app store...
Ok, SVOX installed with a french vox, set SVOX as default TTS on my Acer 500 , but vocality crashes when I try to enter something. Tried also with Google voice, same thing...
i think IVONA TTS was already installed on my kindle, as i didnt have to download it or anything...it was already listed along with another another one when Vocality asked for a selection...the other one wouldnt load up into Vocality.
No idea why it crashes, but you don't need to change the default TTS on your device for it to work. I've just left my default Google TTS. You can change the engine Vocality uses by pressing menu from within the app and going into Settings.
Haven't tried SVOX yet, the GPlay reviews weren't great. Try "Céline" from Ivona if you want a decent French female voice.
is there anyway Vocality will be available on amazon...my kindle hates google play..lol
I'm sure Bojeroo can send you the APK (or publish on Amazon). He's in the UK, so he's probably sleeping right now.
Can you send me an email, then I can send you the .apk file? You don't have a contact option on here when I click your name.
That's strange Skarabee, I just downloaded Luc and Amelie to my wife's Galaxy S3 and they both worked fine.
Is it crashing when you go to enter the text, or go to press play? What's your device and android OS version please? I might have to give you a version with some debug output in to see of we can track this down.
Thanks Rej, great stuff!
If a popup came up saying "Complete action using..." and listed your installed engines, that's an android popup not vocality. If you haven't got the google engine installed, that might be why the popup came up.
As Rej said earlier, choose your engine in vocality by going menu->settings->text-to-speech engine and it should work fine. What was the other engine called btw?
the other was: pico TTS. it had a kindle logo next next it.
My tablet is an Acer 500 with android 4.0.3.
The app crashes as soon as I touch the text area. I tried differents settings on Vocality, but no way. SVOX works in trial mode. GooglePlay don't allow me to purchase it from my country. In fact I only have access to free apps.
In Vocality settings, when I try to use Google voice, I have a message when I try to "install missing language...": no downloadable voice (aucune voix telechargeable)
A couple of things to test Skarabee, does it crash if you press in the speed or pitch value windows? Does it behave the same in both portrait and landscape modes? Thanks.
I’m on a HTC One X and it crash for me to. I can do any thing with it except typing something in the text window. Soon as I select the window the app goes down. I tried to reinstall the app and restarting my device but nothing seams to help. Sorry I can’t think of any reason for this.
Found the reason why this was occuring. Lightbulb turned on when I realised that Skarabee probably has his device set with French as the default locale.
Basically, for users who have their device set up in a language/locale that uses comma (,) rather than period (.) for decimal numbers, this was causing the app to crash as it didn't think that 1,00 was a valid decimal for example. I've now fixed this so that numbers are always forced to use period not comma.
I have published an update to the Play Store, which will hopefully come through to users in the next few hours.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I didn't think to test the app as if I had my device set up in another locale! Lesson learned!
Thanks Bojeroo, I look forward to test the new version
thanks boojero, for the apk,.... it works on my kindle fine....the pico tts works as well.
I'm interested in how you got the vocals to sound like a woman singing so well. I downloaded the app, as well as the USA Ivona HQ voices for the TTS engine, and the sounds nowhere near as smooth as what you had in your mix.
The app crashes only when I touch the input text panel, in portrait and landscape mode. I can move pitch or speed.
The update (v1.01) will fix this. You can either do it manually from the store now or wait for it to auto-update.
Yeah, great tune. Seem to remember it had some lovely analogue arpeggios and distorted drums.
I'm using the stock English US and UK voices in a track I'm working on. Since they're male and female is makes for a nice call-and-response effect. Very cool app. Is there a robot voice available for it somewhere?
If you're using the Google speech engine, then try the German voice on low pitch. That sounds quite robotic.
The Vocality App crashes on my devices. (htc flyer android 3.0 and htc desire s with custom ics)
The app doesn't ask for tts at start, all fields are blanc and no selection possible. when I enter text andhit the play button I get forced close. Installed TTS are google , inova and some more.
EDIT: I'm sorry, I figured it out. I had to set the tts module manually in settings...
♬ Aliens approaching...
That sounds like it was using ivono to start with and that you didn't have any ivono voices installed. I've had emails from quite a few users who download the voice installers for ivono or svox but don't realise you then have to run that to download all the voice data.
If Google tts is selected it should behave fine. Does it still crash of you choose ivono as the engine?
I love your Vocality bojeroo, but I wonder if there is something similar that runs on Windows 8 ?
To be honest I have no idea PQ. I expect there are some free Text-to-speech programs out there for Windows, how good the voices are is a different matter...
Hey I need to get your latest update to your app, and integrate it into my work here and put a plug out for you if you decide to make it a paid app in the future.....
Keep me posted if you have new projects in the making, I'll be happy to hang with you on that and spread the word...
Thanks Jason :o)
This is good two know thanx!
